My first ever job was in The Aldwych Café when I was still at school and I would have worked there for free! Funnily enough, the allure of £1 an hour, free ice cream and sweets didn't last!
My first fulltime job was with the Bank of England, then into finance in BNOC/Britoil/BP. From there I moved into recruitment, working in the UK and Europe, latterly project managing European executive search projects. After that into client services within an outsourcing provider and my last job was in a charity, as fundraising manager for Scotland. Quite the mix!
Why I Got Engaged
Anne-Marie! We worked together during the 90s and didn’t lose touch. To be honest I was a bit nervous, what if I couldn’t remember how to work in the crazy, pacey world of recruitment? But a few weeks back soon answered that concern, I’m loving it and I can see how my broad experience and skillset, is adding to this exiting start-up! It’s an absolute privilege to be here at the beginning and to work with an inspirational and values led team. Small and perfectly formed – but watch this space!
What Engages Me
I have spent the last 25 years in client facing roles and I am totally passionate about service delivery and doing a great job. Loyalty is a big thing with me and that permeates professional and personal life – I still have friends from Primary 1 and not just in a ‘you’ll always be my friend, you know too much!’, sort of way! I’m at my happiest among people, good people, who share the same values and care about the same things. Now that might be just be mixing the perfect gin, going to the movies, watching live bands, travelling to sunnier climates, or in true baby boomer fashion, finding the best box set, filling the fridge with good food and turning off the phone!
