Bayne’s the Family Baker is a well-established brand and business.  It was born in Fife in 1954 and has enjoyed continued growth and success.  Today the Bayne’s family have grown the business into a leading, fully integrated, bakery business that has a projected turnover of over £24m, with 600 people, based between a modern purpose-built production facility in Fife and 60 retail outlets across Scotland.

 

The brand is synonymous with high quality.   The team are passionate about food, and particularly delivering fresh, products to customers through convenient and welcoming shops.  They believe in using traditional methods and processes, using only the best ingredients and are justly proud of their history and heritage while having their eyes firmly fixed on the horizon.

 

There are very ambitious plans for the future that include additional capital investment, new product development, geographical expansion and continuing to build close relationships with the communities that they serve. 

 

The Bakery General Manager will lead the engine of the business, supporting their strategic plans while developing and executing the operational strategy. 

 

Reporting to the Managing Director and part of the Senior Leadership team, you will lead a fast-paced retail bakery operation that delivers daily to customers across Scotland.  Supported by a team above 100, you will create an environment where your team feel empowered and engaged, achieve the highest levels of performance and are motivated and passionate about the brand.

 

With your team, you will specifically be accountable for:

 

  • Developing and executing the long-term Operational Strategy  

  • Providing direction and guidance

  • The quality of the products leaving the bakery

  • Delivering a safe and healthy working environment

  • Budgeting and planning for further development of the capital infrastructure to improve operational effectiveness and increase productivity

  • Exceeding compliance and technical standards

  • The new product development pipeline

 

We would like to speak to experienced operational leaders, ideally from a bakery background who have managed the whole supply chain from goods-in to customer delivery. 

 

In addition, you should be:

  • Not afraid to get stuck in – roll your sleeves up when required – walk the floor and be visible to the whole team
