Due to an ongoing commitment to delivering excellence and the desire to always improve, they now have an exciting opportunity for a talented Business Development Director to join their senior team.
This role is responsible for the Sales and Marketing strategy for the business focusing on margin, profitable sales growth and sustainable cash. The business development team control the destiny of the business, taking them into new markets, extending their competitive edge and enduring that brand and marketing activities reflect the true value that the business brings to their customers.
Duties and Responsibilities include: -
Develop and execute an appropriate sales and marketing strategy that delivers targets and budget contributions, focuses on market penetration, sectoral growth, new business activity and geographical opportunities
Growing the team, identifying and recruiting those individuals who will add value and be a cultural fit
Provide leadership to the team holding them accountable for their targets and activities
Thinking strategically while acting operationally, being on the detail of what is happening with each customer, market the product, spotting opportunities to grow and establish market share
Developing high level relationships with the customer base, main contractors and surveyors and architects to move the business up the value chain
Leading all marketing activity to ensure that this support the sales strategy
Ensuring that bids and tenders are executed effectively, that margin in protected and that these are followed-up and managed to increase the conversion rates
Network within the industry to identify opportunities to develop relationships that will add value to the sales revenue
Grow the existing customer base in each of the sectors, focusing on new client acquisition
Build relationships with key stakeholders

Personal attributes and behaviours include: -
A seasoned business development expert with a background in a construction sales environment
An experienced leader of multi-functional teams with a focus on customer delivery and business development
Experience in managing P&L or turnover of a business or their part of a business
The ability to develop high performance from their business sector
Direct experience in managing sales and marketing process
Demonstrable experience of maximising the revenue potential of the business
A great relationship builder who can influence and persuade at the highest levels
Sophisticated negotiation skills, seeking the win-win
A motivator and encourager who is not afraid to make tough decisions
