It's been a whirlwind time. ..... and now I've found a brand new shiny home - www.engagerecruit.co.uk.
My recent post asking for some recommendations in order to update my LinkedIn profile received a lot of attention and some superb and humbling posts - a massive thank you to everyone who responded and messaged me.
It also led to a few really interesting conversations and as a result of one of those, I'm now "back in the game" Focusing on the deliver of a quality service, the attraction AND retention of new staff and offering a superb follow-up and guarantee service, we're aiming to restore the slightly battered reputation of our industry.
I'll be up and running soon, looking at our marketing presence and working with some brand new clients in the digital sector - watch this space for more news coming soon!
Meantime, here's a preview of my "Meet the Team" piece :)
Before I got Engaged
I started out in advertising, moved to FS, then into recruitment. I’ve worked with big agencies, small agencies, start-ups and nationals before starting my own IT Recruitment business in 2001. I was then co-director at a very successful technology agency (Enigma People) for 13 years, building, developing and running the Digital team, before deciding it was time for a new adventure.
Why I got Engaged
I’d worked with one of the directors at Engage (Gregg) previously as young bucks right at the beginning of our recruitment careers (last century). In all honesty, he’d written an advert that really caught my eye, so I called him for a chat.
After meeting Anne-Marie and the rest of the guys over various meetings, I knew I’d found what I’d been looking for – a new “home” with like-minded people who shared my values, my sensibilities and my drive to deliver great service. I went home after my first day with a huge smile on my face that’s been there ever since!
What Engages me
Apart from Chocolate Ginger biscuits? Family, Football and helping others. My passion for the best team in Glasgow (Partick Thistle) is unbounded and I’ve been lucky enough to have been part of the clubs Charitable Trust for 5 years – working with our local community and beyond on some truly life changing programmes. Since I can’t play football anymore, I coach a Sunday amateur team @AfricaOnTheBall Glasgow
I've also loved the the last 8 years as a judge and head of the judging panel at The Herald Digital Business Awards - it's a real showcase for the breadth and depth of talent in Scotland's digital sector
Importantly, for me, the day job is about delivering the right service – honestly, professionally and directly. Sharing market knowledge and experiences help my clients and candidates understand what the market is doing and where it’s heading; I’m really fortunate that I’ve been able to build a wide network of people in the Digital industry who understand and appreciate what I do.
